Chilli Chicken is one of the most popular Indo-Chinese styled chicken dish. Chilli Chicken can be prepared as an appetizer. You can also prepare it as a thick spicy gravy. This delicious chicken recipe is very popular in any restaurants in India. It is a very quick chicken recipe which you can make with few easily available ingredients in your kitchen. This you can make it at the comfort of your home according to your own taste. It goes well with pan fried hakka noddles and fried rice.

The main criteria of making any Indo Chinese dish at home is to cook the dish at high flame. You have to be very careful while cooking the dish as it does not get burnt from bottom. You need to stir the dish continuously while cooking to prevent burning. There is various ways of making this dish at home. This recipe is totally my hubby’s own recipe, he prefers to boil the chicken before making the dish to make the chicken soft.

My husband’s signature dish

This dish is my husband’s signature dish, he is expert in making any non vegetarian dish. Earlier he made this dish many times, me and my daughter just enjoyed having this dish. But few days back when he had decided to make this again, I planned to add this recipe in my blog for my viewers. So this time I have put little efforts along with having it with my favourite Indo Chinese style fried rice. Except garnishing and photography all credits in making this dish goes to my hubby . Mainly many people use boneless chicken to make this dish. We use with bone chicken, as at my home we all love with bone chicken than boneless chicken.

Ingredients

  • Chicken-500 gm(boneless or with bone cut into 2 inch cubes)
  • Garlic Paste-1 teaspoon
  • Onion -2 (1 cut into slices and another one cut into 1 inch cubed size)
  • Green Bell Pepper or capsicum -1 (half cut into slices and another half one cut into 1 inch cubed size)
  • Green portion of Spring Onion – 1/2 cup (chopped)
  • White portion of Spring Onion – 1/4 cup ( chopped)
  • Soya sauce -4 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste Sugar -1 pinch
  • Tomato sauce -2 teaspoon
  • Oil-1/2 cup
  • Green Chillies -4 (slitted)
  • Garlic Cloves – 6 ( finely chopped)
  • Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
  • Cornflour-1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper -1 teaspoon
  • Ajinamoto-1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Water-1/2 cup

Instructions

  • Add half cup water in a pan, add little salt and chicken, boil the chicken for 5 minutes.
  • Drain the water in a bowl through a strainer, keep the chicken broth. Marinate the chicken with 2 tablespoon soya sauce, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar,1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder, little bit salt and garlic paste, keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and fry until the aroma of garlic comes out, make sure they don’t get burnt.
  • Add sliced onion, green bell pepper, slitted chillies and white spring onions, fry them on high flame, keep stirring.
  • Add remaining soya sauce and vinegar, mix and stir.
  • Add marinated chicken, fry them on high flame for 4-5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon corn flour with the chicken broth, mix well with fork and add to the chicken.
  • Add salt, sugar, cubed onions and cubed bell pepper.
  • Bring it to boil, cook until the chicken get soft and water will get dried up.
  • Add tomato sauce, chopped green spring onions,1/2 teaspoon black pepper,1/2 teaspoon vinegar, ajinamoto, mix well, cook for 2 minutes on high flame, stirring continuously.
  • Turn off the gas and serve.
